Course OverviewIntro to Comparative Politics
Syllabus and E-mail
Course ContentThis course is an introductory survey of various political regions of the world, focusing on domestic and global pressures on states, history and change, and political institutions. It provides a look at the past, present, and future of politics in the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, China, India, Iraq, Nigeria, and Mexico from a comparative perspective. The independent study version of PS 204 is designed for the student who wishes to proceed through the subject material at his or her own pace. Independent study courses permit you to complete most requirements at your discretion. There are no lectures or discussion sections. There are some inflexible deadlines, however. Read this syllabus carefully and be advised that independent study is not the best option for every student. To succeed in this course, you must be self-motivated and very well-organized. In addition, your reading and writing skills should be strong. Note that PS 204 cannot be repeated for credit - the traditional lecture course PS 204 and the independent study/distance education course PS 204 count as the same course. |
