Course OverviewYouth Arts Curriculum

Course ContentThis course is designed to provide educators with introductory knowledge and skills necessary for implementing substantive and appropriate arts instruction as an integral part of the core curriculum for young learners. Participants will learn to teach art as a unique means of thinking, communicating, understanding and learning about ourselves, others, and the world. Course content will emphasize the visual arts, with some integration to other arts. This course addresses the fundamental principles of curriculum development for teaching the arts. Students will explore arts role in the formation of culture and learn to apply a variety of methods to develop arts education curriculum for learners. Distance Delivery MethodsThis class will utilize a web site, online course readings, e-mail correspondence, and independent field trips. It is expected that students will complete the course within the term, as you would if this were a classroom course. TuitionThis is a "self-support" course. The course fee is listed above. This fee is paid regardless of student residency status or total course load. This fee replaces regular tuition for the four-credit courses. For more information on tuition consult the Registrar's Office. Course fees are subject to change at anytime.
